It's a high-profile boost to Chicago's effort to land the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Thousands of spectators today cheered Olympic medalists Michael Phelps, Dara Torres, and Kobe Bryant as they joined fellow Olympic competitors for a taping of the season premiere of "The Oprah Winfrey Show"
at a park in downtown Chicago.
The 150 athletes were introduced under a shower of red, white and blue confetti.
Hundreds of fans stood in line for hours outside Winfrey's studio last weekend to wait for tickets. Another 2,000 seats were set aside for the family and friends of the athletes.
The program will air on Monday.
Chicago is a finalist for the 2016 games, along with Tokyo, Rio and Madrid.
